Mine was doing this the other week end. It ended up being in the indicator
switch behind the steering wheel. If you pull the cover off around the
steering column you should be able to see the switch which operates the
indicators. My problem was that one of the screws wasn't holding the switch
in correctly and was allowing it to move away from the fitting and the
indicator arm wouldn't engage the switch properly. You might not have the
same problem but it may be worth a look.
