Tod,
5.75" H4's in the inners just running high beam shouldn't really be illegal
but if the RTA is picky they could see them as illegal as the refraction
pattern is actually designed for spread and not distance, as they are
supposed to be used in conjunction with a H1 inner which is refracted for
distance. This is not the case with the 7" H4 as it's a standalone light and
usually only used with one each side - quite a different design. What you
need to make this combo to work properly is a couple of H1's and keep your
other H4 for spares.
Looking at the back of a H4 QI bulb the horizontal pin is Low beam, the left
hand side vertical pin Is High beam and the right hand side pin is Common.
I've tried to draw this in text mode, hopefully it posts as intended.

I would just like to thank Terry and others for the help they supplied for
my Lighting problems. I was able to track down a full set of H4's from a
wreckers for 40 bucks and my car now runs 90/100W Hi/Lo beams and 130W hi
beams so there are a few blind rabits in my area at the moment Hehehe.
I was told at the local parts shop it is ilegal to run the h4's as inner hi
beams is this true? I have wired them as per Terry's FAQ but am not
exactley sure which of the three points on the back of the globes i should
wire to make them work in hi beam mode any help would be
apretiated.........TOD
