Th hypereutectic pistons gets its name from the higher levels of silicon in
the alloy. This level of silicon actually makes the piston weaker than cast
in high po applications. The only benefit of them is having less wear
characteristics i.e. less friction.

Tom,
since you are turboing your engine just putting a little more boost through
the sucker will probably have the same effect as the extra little bit of
displacement. Check with some performance shops about the pistons. I know
for about 350 - 400 bucks you can get yourself a nice set of high silicon
content pressure cast pistons that will be a lot stronger than normal cast
pistons. From memory they are called Hypueretectic (something like that)
pistons. Could you put some shorter rods in it instead of the Z20E ones?I
know my old rally engine has toyota 18R rods and some breed of flat tops, a
standard l20 crank (I think) and a little boring to give just over 2.2.
Might pay to look for a rod catalogue and find something to meet your needs.
Just some food for thought anyway.
