Adam,
The CA18DETs were factory fitted to U12s over in Japan, they were
referred to as Bluebirds and were also available in 4WD configuration, easy
to set one up (fwd only), all you need is a u12 bluebird front cut, which
are quite obtainable from import wreckers. the SR20 would not be do-able
with your budget, as you'd be hard pushed to buy a FWD SR20DET for the
dollars.
