Damien, I will be doing the r200 4.11 lsd swap in my 1600 in the next few weeks. I have looked at the r200 front flange, and it comes standard with the larger bolts, further apart (not from the toyota conversion). I hope the r160 flange will bolt on the front, as I also have the r30 skyline 5 speed short box, with standard tailshaft also. What type of 1/4 shafts will you use? the r200 has cv joints, but I have been told that you can put in the uni joint 1/4 shafts (by snapping out the cv voints - some type of cerclip arrangement) and because the standard 1/4 shafts are telescopic, they will allow for the wider diff. Let me know how it goes. Regards, David Thompson "damien cm" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Fellow Datsun Enthusiasts, First fo all, I'd like to introduce myself to the list. My name is Damien and I own a 1968 Datsun 1600. It has a L20b with elec.ign, ext, 2" exh,Series 2 bluebird carb(took downdraft weber off, chewed to much fuel for a daily driver). It has a R30 5spd,standard diff(upgrading to R200 LSD this saturday) I have R30 front struts and brakes, Tokico gold inserts,King progressive springs,180B camber pins,27mm k-Mac sway bar, and a custom alloy strut brace(unknown brand). In the rear I have Mitsubishi Scorpion rear discs and calipers, Koni shocks and Lovell springs. I have a rear sway bar but am still debating whether or not to put it in. All in all, it's a reasonable 1600 with your typical mods. I have a few questions: 1.This weekend I am putting in a R200 LSD. The input shaft( Where the tail shaft bolts on) Has a different flange bolt pattern to my 1600 tail%20shaft. The diff is from a 1600 which had a 6 cylinder toyota supercharged engine with a Supra 5spd, therefore the tail%20shaft is of no use to me(except maybe the rear uni-joint). A.-Is the diff input shaft naturally different to the R-160 or is has it been modified to suit the toyota engine conversion???? B.-Can I remove the R-200 input shaft and replace it with the input shaft from the R-160, or will I have to cut the uni joint off the original Datsun\Toyota tail shaft and get it welded to my 1600 tail-shaft?????? C.-My 5spd is a 'short' gearbox, therefore I did'nt have to modify my tail shaft when I put in the 5psd. I noticed that the R-200 is 1cm longer , so will I have to shorten my tail shaft or will there be enough tolerance?????? (the extra 1cm is due to the input shaft of the R-200,so if I can replace it with a R-160 input shaft, this will no longer be a problem.) D.-Which is better, 240K twin spot brakes or R30 single piston brakes??? E.- Why do people use Mitsubishi Scorpion rear brakes over R31 rear brakes???? (I used Scorpion because I got them ready to bolt on for a excellent price) F.-I use my 1600 as a daily driver to get to uni and work every day.I removed my Weber down-draught because it was chewing fuel and not a huge performance increase (I've had the same type of carb on a few Escorts and had the same opinion). I replaced it with a Series 2 blue- bird carb and found the engine is more smooth and more fuel efficient and Is'nt that far of from the Weber for performance. It also starts better due to the electric choke. I am saving for a modern turbo engine, so I figure that I'll get it quicker If I spend less on fuel. Was this a good move??? Should I have looked at some other carb, like a 240K???? G.- Is the W53 head with 'peanut' combustion chamber good??? What car is it originally from???? Thanks for all your help, and keep on handling Damien. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
