The beauty of converting to the later version with uni joint is the ease of
modification to fit a quick steer gearbox. Simply cut the column, fit the
box (mounted to the firewall) and fit the uni and shaft. Quick steer boxes
are about $350AU$ ex USA, but bear in mind they are a race only conversion.
Only a loony would drive a streeter with a 1 - 1.5 turn lock to lock
steering setup, plus you need arms like Popeye to steer at slow speed.

All 510's aparts from one i have seen has a soild colum.
Even the 1972 510SSS has a soild one.
No UNI joint to F*&k up or wear out has to be better anyway.
