Zac,
I
think you're on the right track. The best place to pick up ignition feed under
the bonnet of the 1600 is from the wire that connects to the input side of the
ballast resistor. If you've removed the BR then you can pick it up from the +ve
of the coil. You should only use this feed as a relay sense wire so you don't
rob the coil or pull amperage through the ign switch. The unfortunate thing is
the battery is a long way away from the coil so you've got a bit of neat wiring
if you want to fit a relay over the other side, not impossible, the stuff
that insulates the wiring in most late model cars in very
neat.
If you
are going to fit a relay on the drivers side to supply ign sense power the
relay(s) for the fuel pump etc, you could also splice into the ignition wire
that's behind the dash panel -- if you have a factory tacho it's the same wire
that loops through the back of the tacho, you can then run it through the
firewall to the relay. You could also use one relay to power all of this stuff,
I wouldn't use a mini Bosch for this, rather something like a dual New Era with
inbuilt fuses that rates 30amps x 2, keeps things neat i.e. one battery
feed.
regards
Terry
