I am not so sure on the too expensive bit, at least to purchase a stocky.
A friend of my son just bought a very nice 260Z 2 seater. The body is very
straight, rust free except for a (very) little on the top of the LH front
guard and the top of the LH door skin (never seen rust there before). It
has one very minor dint on the hatch. The interior of the car is immaculate
(Retrimmed like new) inside and mechanically very good. All the accessories
are in top nick. It feels tight in the suspension and has obviously led a
pretty quiet life.
The last owner had it for 14 years, seven of those parked in a shed after
she had kids. It needs a radiator as the original is ready to fall apart.
Only real negative is the colour Bronze - and they are bloody big compared
to a 1600.
The buyer paid $4200 including RWC and a full 12 months rego. It think he
got a bargain but he said he looked at plenty around $3000 - $3500. Try to
find a really good Datsun 1600 with Zed style performance and "pose value"
for $4200.
