Hi all,
I've hung around and listened to some brilliant
tips on this list.
I've got a few 1600's (can't help myself) and
I reckon if I ever
upgrade I'd get a 240Z (pretty hard to find in Perth) or maybe
the seemingly more common 260z. The original Zed car (240z)
was designed by a German guy Albrecht Graf
Goertz who earlier had
done the styling for the early BMW roadster in the
1950's called the 507.
The BMW 507 is considered by many to be
the most beautiful car ever,
so it's no wonder he did such a great job on the
240Z, which sold like hotcakes
when released. Apparently he scored
the job for designing the shape of the Zed by
arriving unannounced in Japan
and just knocking on the doors of the major
auto manufacturers with his
sketches under his arm. Datsun took one look at his
work and offered him
the contract. Just a bit of trivia....
I like the Zed because to me it looks like a
blending of many of the world's
great supercar shapes - It reminds mainly of
the Jaguar E-type and front-engined
Ferrari's. Nothing wrong with that!
Cheers all,
Rob
