The Zeds have a shorter wheelbase??

Agreed, even a worked triple-webered L28 is a pretty awesome motor. The only
thing really wrong with the Z's is that you sit so low with a high scuttle
and door-line that visibility is poor compared to the panoramic 1600. The
shorter wheelbase (90in compared to 95in) and rear suspension layout seems
to make it easier to lose the tail as well.
A well running Z will cruise at 100mph, I have averaged 85mph over quite
long distances without pushing it and they are a brilliant car for a long
fast drive that leaves you wanting to go further.
