James I owned a 2.4ltr L20 1600 until recently. It was fairly reliable in
that it never broke down. However, it required constant tuning of the
webers and was not streetable at all because of the big cam. Also, in
summer the interior of the car got very very hot so this made summer driving
uncomfortable. It really depends what you want the car for, based on my
experience, unless you wanted to race it, I would probably try another
option. Also you have to consider what compression ratio you will run which
will then dictate what fuel you run. Mine was a pretty full on 2.4 so it
depends how far you want to go as well, but if you wanted over 200hp for the
street I would probably try something else.
