You should be able to get the bottom end assembled using nissan factory
rods/piston combinations with the z24 crank in place for less tha $1000,
including purchase of the block, sh rods eg fj20det 140mm, and some sort of
piston with a low pin-deck height.

driveability is more an issue of cam and induction choices, and not the chosen
bore/stroke ratio.

I chose to sleeve my engine to 89mm bore, and use full floating pistions, so
this was more expensive.
