Thanks for your patience Terry,
The white wire is connected to the solinoid and there is no AMPS gauge in
place although there is a plug (multi pin connector) coming off the loom
with nothing connected...

Anthony,
I'll answer part of this now and the relay bit later as the eyes are
starting to shut.
On the starter solenoid there are 2 connections. The big one with a 12mm nut
has the big black wire that comes from the positive battery terminal and on
the same connection a white wire that can have a fusible link and that wire
powers the fuse box. The original 1600 loom has a plug fitting about 3"
along this wire from the solenoid that the fuse box wire connects into, but
mostly this plug fell to bits over time and usually some alternate method
was used to connect the white wire to the solenoid.
1. Check to see if the white wire is connected to the solenoid.
2. Is there an AMPS gauge fitted to this car?
On the top of the solenoid there is a spade type connector which is where
the starter wire connects which is a small black/yellow trace. Don't worry
about this one as it's not important at this stage.
regards
Terry

Terry,
I did the test that you explained and there was no power reading at all. I
also checked the single control wire that goes to the solinoid and there was
no power getting to there at standby or on ignition. Also, I checked the
power to the key plug and there was none there either.
As far as wiring up the ignition relay, maybe you caould give me a good idea
on what to do:
* The relay has the plugs 30, 85, 86, 87 and 87.
* 1 thin red wire coming from the +ve on the solinoid (has power)
* 1 earth wire from strut tower
* 1 wire coming from the +ve on the battery
* 1 blue with white tracer coming from the loom
* 2 wires coing to one plug from the loom, yellow and an off white?
* 1 yellow wire going to the alternator (-ve terminal?)
I have tied a few combinations of these wires onto the relay but none of
them produced lights (headlights parkers etc) but if there is another
problem then maybe they wont at the moment...
I appreciate any help you can give to get another Datto back on the road.
Cheers,
Anthony
