Chris,
I used a 32/36 DGAV from a cortina, however, I was able to remove the
factory water heated bi-metal spring assembly off the webber and fit the
Hitachi spring assembly with very little modification. The results were
unnoticeable and even on the coldest days, one press of the throttle and the
engine started without any further pressing of the accelerator. Performance
was definitely improved, especially since the secondary was mechanically
driven.
One thing I did consider was to get my factory carbie and modify it so that
the secondaries were mechanically driven....but the webber seemed like a
better idea.
Regards,
        George
