Hi List

Well I got me a CA16 for FREE today - a friend of a friend got it with a
CA18DET he bought trying to sell it, but suddenly had to get back the
space, so it was free to whoever wanted to pick it up.

Naturally it is FWD, but thanks heaps to ERROL who reckoned a CA20
bellhousing and spacer would do the trick to mate up to a skyline
gearbox. (picked them up at an all-you-can-carry pickapart sale last
week along with EFI fuel pumps and alternators and brakes).

the CA20 bellhousing appears to bolt up at a couple of places and not at
a couple of other places (inc;uding starter motor). it also looks like it is
going to place the engine at an angle when installed - with the drivers
side higher than the passenger side. is this a common CA installation trait??

Also is there any stuff I should be checking out to determine the quality
of the engine?? Is it worth pulling off the head to check anything?? The
(import) engine has supposed to have only done 40000kms...

Finally, did Aust get any CA16s??

I'll try to borrow a motec to get it to run - worst case it will allow me
to get everything sorted dimensionally to allow a bolt in CA18 conversion :)

Thanks heaps
Andrew
