Anthony,
You've got problems on a couple of fronts and you wont know if your existing
extractors fit until you try them on the L20B with the SU manifold. The
problem is whether or not the rear pipe (#)4 will clear the fuel bowl of the
rear SU but if you've used SU's on your L18 you'll now pretty well.
Some L16/L18 headers will fowl the rear of the L20B block when L16 engine
mounts are used where they pass through next to the idler arm. Also if
you've used a spacer block on your rear gearbox xmember then the L18 header
will fowl it as it's pretty tight already with the L18. I've heard of
chopping the engine mounts or have special ones made up to lower the engine
a tad. HM21C or HM21RC headers are pretty much the popular choice for a
1600/L20B.
regards
Terry

Subject: L18 to L20B swap - extractors
Hey list,
I picked up an L20B from the pick and payless at Backtown on the weekend, it
has been tested and has the exhaust manifold, carbie and distributor
attatched.
To put it in my 1600 I know that I will to put the L16 sump on it and I am
going to attatch my SUs so the air filter thing wont be a problem but I have
also been told that the L18 extractors that I have now wont fit when
attatched to the L20... is this true and what options do I have.
1. Exchange the L18 for L20 extractors somewhere or maybe just sell them and
buy L20 ones.
2. Or is there some way to modify the engine mounts of firewall to make them
fit?
Thanks for your help,
Anthony
PS. Is there anything else people could suggest for me to do while I have
the engine out and being preped for the swap, ie flywheel?
