Rick,
I don't have the cash either but as it was in the next suburb from mine, I had a look.
It was a light blue (very faded original paint)BW Automatic (is that Borg-Warner?). It
had never been crashed or had rust repaired but some rust was starting to show around
the bottom of the doors, rear end at bumper height and bottom of the boot lid, that
was about it. It had always been garaged. The bumpers were not perfect, small bumps
and flaking chrome but all up it was one of the best ones I had seen, apart from my
own '72 manual. I drove my own car there to compare it and noted that I had less rust
overall in mine, but I also had a little bit of rust in mine where the blue one did'nt
-notably the tops of the rear fenders, on either side of the boot. Perhaps mine had
gotten more condensation in the boot due to dodgey boot lid seal.
One thing that amazed me was that there was absolutely no sag in the passenger door
hinges, that's a first for me as I have looked at quite a few 1600s. Overall, it
was'nt showroom condition and I reckon $2000 was too much as I got mine for less than
half that. 8 out of 10 as far as original 510s go. -Rob
