Thomas,

195/60x14 are a sweet tyre size on a 1600 as they are almost exactly the
same revs per mile as the stock 13" (165SRx13). Skyline 5.5" x 14 rims
should be OK, I know the GTS spare 6x15 wheels are good on a 1600 although
tough to find (only 1 per GTS wreck).

On a 1600 the backspace should be between 3.75" & 4.25" (stock is 4") so
take a ruler with you.

regards
Terry

Subject: tyres rims and installing new carpet.

Hi list, I need some advice on a couple of things: will nice square 195/60
tyres on 14 inch ausie R31 skyline steel rims bolt on to my dato with no
problems? It is quite a bit lower than standard. I want a tyre and rim combo
that is reasonably economical while having tyres with a lower profile than
standard datto wheels. I like the idea of the skyline steel rims because i
want a stealth look, not big flashy mags. As for the second thing, Does
anyone have any advice on what to do about those little bits of aluminium
trim that deal with the edges of the carpet near the sills? My car has been
sitting in the shed without interior for ages and the little bit of
aluminium trim are stuffed. Can you get new ones? Are there any other ways
of tying down the edbes of my nice new carpet? Any advice would be great,
Thomas.
