Just to advise that another 1600 has returned to
the road today, after a repaint of the body. Vic QZS530.
It's white, it's dead stock original, its
auto, it looks like new inside and out, rattle free. But its pretty
uninspiring to drive. I cant remember my last drive in a stock 1600
(and I had never driven an auto) but this Datto feels - old.
Skinny plastic steering wheel, slippery vinyl front seats, hard to read dash
lighting. But its original engine purrs, after fitting
a Hitachi distributor and a tune up, and feels unburstable. It
pulls 5500 in top and still has more to give, so it doesnt lack top
speed, you just have to wait, and wait, to get there! Despite these
negatives it gives the feeling of typical Datto solid
reliability.
Give Kath a flash (of lights) if you spot her
driving her "new" car!
