Iggy,
Here is where the ADR laws as they stand are a bit of a joke. I haven't done
this for many years now but you used to be able to just walk in and tell
them you've changed your engine in your Toy. I converted many Celicas and
Coronas from single shaft to 18RGU (some with Yamaha head) this way. From my
experiences the key to the low hassle with this type of conversion is that
you are using same make, model and capacity bits and this seems to do the
trick.
You are going to get more hassle if you upgrade the brakes! (and declare)
Back to the joke bit, a Corolla 1600 has ~60kw rung out and a 20 valve @
~120kw. Slot one in your sleepy Corolla with hardly a question from the RTA
but you can't upgrade a L16 (56kw) to a L20B with 75kw (on a good day)
without going through the wringer.
regards
Terry (our is not to reason why)

Subject: Converting from a 1600 to a 1600 (OT)
Afternoon all,
Just wondering if you listers know what is involved in registering a car
whose engine has been changed to one of similar capacity but say a twin cam.
Now the reason I ask this is because I am wondering what I would have to do
to get my twin cam corolla (daily driver) registered if I put a 20 valve in
it?
I figured people might have similar experiences such as an SR into a 200b or
bluebird??
Thanks for any help..
