Adam,
You won't really get much extra power from a overbore but you might need to
if the bores on your motor are looking tired. Since your head is stuffed,
you can grab a 'peanut' head, which has combustion chambers designed to
resist detonation bettwe than an open chambered head. The peanut-shaped
chambers are also smaller so they will raise the compression ratio, which
will give you more power. The two that most people use are W53 or A87, and
both can usually handle lots of porting. $200+ depending on condition and
work you get done to it. New pistons are about $200 a set with rings,
boring will cost about $200, facing a head or block would be $50 or so - if
you disassemble it all. Add about $350-$400 if you need somebody to
reassemble it afterwards.
The Nissan Works cams are pretty popular and most camshaft workshops (Wade,
Ivan Tighe) can reproduce copies for $100-$250. Choose one which suits your
need, they range from mild (68 degree) to pretty darn wild (76 degree).
You'll get more power as you go wilder but the powerband moves further and
further up, so with a wild one you will get a very lumpy idle and generally
crappy driveability outside the powerband.
With a pair of 45mm Weber carbs ($500-$700), 9-10:1 compression, a ported
head and a mildish cam you can hope for 55-70kw at the wheels. If you want
lots more without a turbo, drain your bank account ($2000+) and grab a Z24
crankshaft & a pair of 48's, you should see about 100kw at the wheels.
