Sounds like fuel starvation.  After you have been accelerating hard for some time, you may have lowered the fuel level in the float bowls. Check the fuel flow from the pump to the carbs.

Subject: Engine Problem

Hi All,

Looking for help in tracking down a missfire in my FJ20 non turbo. Currently running a stock motor with twin 45 webbers, rejetted to suit, electronic ignition, electric fuel pump.

So far we have replaced the leads, coil, dizzy cap, rotor button and plugs, but still we have an intermittent missfire above 5000rpm.

It is mainly noticable under load for example in third gear above 5000rpm.

When the missfire does clear it is normally in top gear at the end of the main straight at Oran Park. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this prob.

All ideas/help appreciated

Mark.
