Dear ozdatters,

It's been a while since I wrote to the list, and with the snow season ending this sunday I'll be returning home to Canberra to pursue my other passion, the Datsun 1600. When I get home there will be two new projects waiting for me, first is a standard 1200 coupe that my little brother bought of a sweet old lady who owned it since day one, and the second is a immaculate 180B that was also purchased of a sweet old lady for a ridicously low price!

The 1200 has a reconditioned 1400cc engine that runs quite well, so the first mod that I want to do is upgrade the brakes. I have heard that 200B discs and calipers bolt on to the 1200 strut, can anyone clarify or add to this? Any other easy but benificial mods that can be made to a 1200 using the massive array of parts available from other  Datsuns??

My plan for the 180B is to fit it with a modern, bolt in, and naturaly aspirated engine. I was thinking of maybe a Z20, Z22 or Z24. The car is to be a neat cruiser that performs, but does'nt draw attention. So far it has 240K brakes, KYB  and heavy duty springs on all four corners, a 260Z 5 speed and a nice stereo. It also recieved some new tyres, to replace the horrible re-treads that it came with. Has anyone out ther done a similar engine transfer to the one I proposed? How much would one expect to pay for a Z-series engine, and where would be good place to look? can they be bought with fuel injection standard?

Any info or advice on the above topics would be much appreciated!!

Forever upgrading,

Damien.

The only one that springs to mind is the 200B fuel tank, which is a little bigger than the 1600 tank, but needs new mounts to fit between the rear shock towers. Quite a lot of work for the extra benefit, maybe good if you plan a lot of long trips. Look at Jake's FJ 1600 on the Ozdat site, he has one fitted in his 1600.

Gday Ozdatters,

I am sick of having to fill up all the time. what fuel tanks are there that
are available to fit straight into a 1600 with no, or at least only small
mods?

Cheers
Tredders
