Dunc,

I've never had a problem with the stock gasket on a 87.8mm bore so you'd have to be very unlucky with 88mm. I've used ACL Monotorque gaskets for years, they cost a tad more but I've never blown one on a L series yet, which I can't say the same for OEM gaskets especially the crap quality that's offered these days.

regards
terry

Subject: head gasket

will a standard L20B head gasket be OK for 88mm bore ??

i think the head gaskets are 89-90mm diameter.

i checked a Z24 gasket but the holes didn't look quite right.

also, i'm removing a 1.5mm head spacer, so i guess i'll have to pull the timing cover off and adjust the tensioner to suit...........the head has had a  bit shaved off it.  does this sound right, or is there a fair bit of played allowed ??  from memory the tensioner shouldn't be 1/2 way out - destroys it ???

thanks,

dunc.
