BRM built a supercharged 1488cc V16 for F1 which could put out about 480bhp at 12,000 rpm and this was back in the 1950's. It was like two V8's, one on top of the other with a common crank. The V is very shallow and it almost looks like boxer.
 
The pistons must have been tiny!

Didn't suzuki make a 1.6L V8 that was meant for a production sports car?  Did that ever come out?  I think it was a twin turbo too.

    They were back in the late 80's, 1.3L they were turbo also, Zac is correct they are 3L these days.

    i dis agree i have read that they were 1. something. think 1.6l. they are certainly under 2l
