RB25DET (R33 skyline): This is quite an advanced piece of equipment. It was designed
to give the fastest transient response possible. On its original fitment it
makes its entire boost by 1900rpm. It's undersized for its intended purpose but
makes an excellent fitment on the CA. The biggest issue here is the Carbon
composite compressor wheel, which is basically plastic. I have heard stories of
the compressor wheel flying apart at anything over about 15psi on a large
engine. I limit this unit to 14psi. Very high quality filtration is also a must.
These turbos aren't exactly bolt-ons and require fabricated plumbing, new dump
pipe and modified manifold. But given the cost, the fact that they are
reasonably available and the end result, they are pretty good value.
thanks
Heath
