Possible negative handling characteristic changes (with slicks rear, radials front) are:

More understeer
Brake bias more rearward

Lots of people run rear slicks when they take their car to the strip, and I can't see any problem with it.  If you run this setup around a track, you are crazy IMHO.

At club level I'm pretty sure you need to have a roll cage if you run slicks, otherwise you must run normal radial street tyres.

James has a valid point, but its pretty irrelevant in a 1/4 mile strip application.

because there is less surface area in contact with the road because of the treadalso treaded tyres will be a softer compound, i thinkdont take the risk, use one or the other, not both

i dont know of any rules, but just think about it logically............it IS a disaster waiting to happen, especially seeing as the front wheels take most of the cars weight under brakesdont do it or you will end up like Todd Wilkes  r.i.p

what is the rule about slicks on the rear and standard radials on the front..............

i've heard that this is a disaster waiting to happen - especially at 100+ mph and then braking heavily.........
