You'll have sand and dirt in the cluth fork release bearing (or spigot
bearing what ever you want to call it.) When the clutch is out it will
spin coz it'll jus touch the pressure plate and make noise like any bearing
with dirt in them. THen the clutch is in there is pressure on the bearing
and it wont make noise.

It'll be ok to drive like that but over time it will get worse and
eventually the bearing will make noise all the time, this is the time to
pull the gearbox off and replace it.

The problem wont be with your clutch so there is no reason for it to slip
while driving.
