hi, i have built this kit up , but havent used it on my 1600 due to a heap of reasons.i  wired the keypad to a smaller box via some ribbon cable, so that u dont have to have the  main unit  stuck to the dash . the distributor  will have to be modified as per instructions that came with the kit, and  you will also HAVE  to build the  hi energy ignition kit  that is also mentioned in the instructions. the hei can be modified to  sut  reluctor, optical and hall effect  pickups.

the two wires that come from the reluctor  and plug onto the four pin module , are connected up to the hei via  male spade terminals.
then the hei is connected up to the  programmable ign.

there shoulod be  a cover that is held on by two screws, undo these and the cover comes of. then you will see the four pin ign module. there will be two wires that come from inside the dizzy  and plug onto the module, these are the pickup wires, you will not have to cut any thing.

Subject: B/Bird dissy dismantling & Jaycar programmable ignition

Hi list,

I am about to install the Jaycar programmable ignition kit (electronically controlled advance). I have had the kit laying around for a few months and finally decided to build it.

Has anyone already installed this kit in a Datsun? Any tips on interfacing it with the Bluebird electronic dissy?
I am guessing that you just "splice" the computer into the black leads that go to the Bluebird ignition computer from the reluctor.

Is there an easy way to remove the two black reluctor coil wires inside the S2 B/Bird electronic dissy? They stop you taking it apart and I am about to cut the bastards because I cannot see a better way.

Regards,
Nick
