James, Axle tramp was pretty common when you put a hot engine into an EH in my day. The easiest way to check for this condition is to have someone follow you on a quiet road. It sounds like you're on the money but it could be the body flexing and altering the input angle to the diff which also gives a similar feeling to tramp.

Hi guys, I've just been working on my friends 1000 coupe, he's put a _really_ worked A15 in it. The problem we are having is a severe vibration that occurs sometimes under hard acceleration, usually after shifting from 2nd to 3rd. It feels like the rear wheels are bouncing up and down, and losing traction, but its not like normal losing traction - slipping sideways, its up and down? Its pretty scary, do these symptoms sound like 'axle tramp' ? ie the rear suspension is bottoming out on a hard gear change and the diff is bouncing?? has anyone had similar symptoms putting a race engine into a car with stock suspension ? any input appreciated, James Empson. --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
