If you are already using a cable set up I wouldn't suggest going back to a
linkage system. From my experience, linkage systems always seem to have
more slop in them than a cable set up.

Have you checked the cable itself for smooth operation?

Also, check the way that the cable is mounted at the pedal. When I bought my
1600 the set up was dodgy, and the inner cable was rubbing on the mount that
was being used. This ended up wearing and eventually snapping the throttle
cable (in the middle of a race!).

I would suggest checking each component separately for smooth operation -
there must be a reason for the sticky movement.

Mark.

Subject: weber linkage ideas?

after trying for a few weeks to get twin 40mm webers to run on my car and
not recieving any ozdat emails(doh no internet help to get em running)

i finally got them started. (thanks paddy)
but yeh now i spose the only problem i got is a real sticky throttle. the
first like 1mm you try to push down its real sticky. so you push harder
still nothing. then harder again and b4 u know it your flat to the floor and
it just chugs. really hard to get used to. im using a series 2 or 3 bluebird
throttle and cable setup. not the rod linkage. but its the pull cable.
pretty much a dodgey job but hey it works and im loving the sound of the
webers. but if anyone can reccomend a good linkage setup(cheapish) it would
be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
ryan
