g'day yeah i had a similar problem with mine!!!! annoyed the hell outa me coz i had ripped all the indicator assembly apart thinking it was the high/low shifter! Anywayz! it turned out to be the relay , and the screw holding it to the chassis, moisture had gotten in and was shorting the whole thing out!! oh that and theres was a bit of corrosion in the underneath of the fuse box.cant guarantee thats what it is, but i hope this gives u at least some ideas!
