That's exactly what happens with that sort of bypass connected but a minor
point (I'm being picky but important when chasing water problems) is that
external fittings on a water pump housing are always suck side so they're
technically inlets and not outlets so reverse the water direction and you've
got it spot on.

Hello mick,

Wouldnt running a hose from the pump outlet to the fitting on the
engine circulate all the hot water arround from the water pump and
back into the motor, bypassing the radiator and thermo?
