Have you had a look to see if its loosing water from the telltale hole on the underside of the water pump behind the pulley.

List
Last night had to go across town in the heat, took about 45 miniutes to get from Church St, Richmond to Lygon St. The car got a little warm but nothing to excessive. Then had to go into town, about 5 mins, then later as i was coming home started to get funny squeally noise from engine. Found nearest servo and filled up with water, it took nearly 3 litres (it doesn't have an overflow tank). So it was obviously quite hot. Anyway, what i want to know is what is the squeally noise which it started making a littl bit and now makes a lot.
My theorys are:
a) bearings in water pump gone, siezed with heat or something
b) bearings in alternator gone
c) fan belts slippingI haven't had time to check anything yet, just wondering if the list had any ideas.
Thanks
