I had the problem of the bonnet skin separating
from the ribs. Nobody local, even local panel shops, knew what to
use. I tried silicon and it lasted about 2 weeks. The stuff that was
used originally looks like it was some kind of bitumen based
adhesive.
The marine fibreglass adhesive may be OK but the
bonding agent gets a fair pounding from wind and panel
movement.
I finally bought some panel adhesive
recommended by a panel shop in Melbourne for about $20 for a 350cc
cartridge but didn't get to use it as the offending bonnet hit a tree prior
to getting bonded - problem eliminated sort of - and I still don't know if the
stuff I bought will provide a permanent repair.
