i've sussed it.  twas not the coil, nor the plug, nor the lead, nor the
injector, nor the computer, nor the valve,
or even the piston like last time.....

are you ready for it.....................

i have a leak past my inlet manifold gasket on #1 cylinder.

a quick spray with the old carby clean solved the mystery.
