With the cable if it fits without kinks or tight bits and your speedo doesn't jump around then it's OK. When you use a long box the extn housing is a little further back so the 180B cable will hook up using the stock 1600 fittings on the body. I think the 180B cable is around 5" longer than a 1600 manual cable, a 1600 BW auto cable is ~3" longer.
 
 The cable has nothing to do with tyre size etc as that's the speedo drive ratio. if you need some info on which one you need with the R30 box then let me know - I need to know your diff ratio too.

I have a R30 5speed in my 1600, and I used the standard 1600 cable. I have 195/50/15 tyres. Was this the right choice or should I have gone 180B as well????
