The chrome strips in the front and rear window rubbers do not have to be removed for the removing and refitting  of the windows for a 510.
Windows take around 2 mins to remove and about 20mins to put back in.(front and rear)

It takes longer to clean the rubbers and body

They are definitely NOT cosmetic. They help to form the rubber to the right
shape. I did my rear screen a few weeks ago and until i put the strips in it
looked terrible..
a few days in the sun with the strips in and hey presto all fixed Works on
the front screen too

BTW
What was the outcome with the diffs?
cheers
Mick

Hi Mick,

Actually, no I didnt put them in yet, because someone mentioned
they served only cosmetic function. I will give it a go but, and
hopefully that will fix it.

Thanks heaps
Andrew

andrew
did u install the chrome strips into the rubber?
these strips tend to make the rubbers sit more 'square'.
cheers

Subject: rear windscreen sealing...

Hi List,

Last night 2 steps forward 1 step back: I got both windscreens in
last night (yay), but had to then pull out the rear screen because it
leaked (doh).

It appears (a fair bit of) water was getting in at the bottom rounded
corners, where the seal didnt want to sit flat to the body, instead
instead sitting up a few mm.

Anybody got any ideas why the seal was doing this, and/or how to
alleviate it?? The seals are brand new, so it isnt this.

Thanks
Andrew
