Sorry, forgot to mention that it may spark a bit

All this does is bypass all the other wiring including the ignition swith to prve straight away if they: work/don't work/some other problem.

When my car has a flat battery even the voltage drop thru the loom will stop it turning over.

i did that, and it just made a farken huge spark......also that thin little wire coming from the relay to the solenoid has 12v through it when i turn the key to start

so i just short out the two teminals ont he back of the starter (lucas brand), with the ign on???

I usually get a beefy insulated screwdriver and short across the terminals on the back of the solenoid. You can then find out if both the solenoid and the starter are working by turning them on individually. Its a bit rough but it works. If you're jumping you just use the pos end of the jumper cables. It may also tell you, if it works fine and turns the engine over, that there are problems elsewhere.

sorry, its not to solenoid i can hear clicking, its the relay next to the starter that i can hear. all the leads are connected, im stumped

help!!! my car wont turn over. i hear the solenoid click and thats its. the battery has a charge, i roll started it, and warmed it up, once its warm it normally only needs 1 turn and it starts.....any ideas people????
