Sort of related....

Have you thought about buying a "come along" winch?

They cost about $40 and are great for pulling out engines, straightening things, and 
de-ditching.
Best of all it takes up next to no space.

You also would need about 2 metres of chain and a couple of D-Shackles.
-And a beefy roof bearer to winch from.

All up cost would be less than the cost of hiring a jib.
