Have you guys heard of "Rally Tasmania"

I ran in it in 2000 & 2001 as a navigator in a mates Sprite. It is an all-tarmac event that is usually run in February, has both classic and modern categories, and runs around a lot of the same roads as targa but for only 3 days instead of  5 or 6. It is based in Burnie so you only have to pay for accomodation in one spot for a few days. Entry fee was about $600 last time i did it. They have a deal going with Brambles the shipping company who will ship all the interstate cars over at a cheap rate (cheaper than the ferry) and that means you can also fly over. It is a great, well-run event and i would recommend it to anyone who wanted to do targa but couldn't afford it. Or just to get a taste of tarmac rallying. They got in all the big guns this year. Lik Jim Richards, who won, No surprise. But you still ahev a chance of finishing well in the heritage part. If you have lots of mods, turbo, efi etc.. they will put you in the modern class.

We bought pace notes from some locals who also do them for Targa and had loads of fun! A 1600 would do great on those twisty turny tassie roads!!!!
