Its unfortunate that these rumours have been globalised by the
popularity of email. I work closely with strategic analysis of certain
international incidents and whilst the old stories relating to HIV,
needlestick injuries, kidney theft, and the old one about the sex
slavery scam in Indonesia damage nothing more than tourism to certain
areas of the world, the fear generated by recent terrorism is greatly
heightened by stories such as the Westfield example. Some of the
stories are plain sinister and upon investigation by Interpol
approximately 94% of them are generated in the home by school children.

Many people are nave and these stories damage them by causing
psychosomatic fear.

The emails thrive on being forwarded, and as Errol says, they are
forwarded by decent people with the best of intentions. I take the time
on this list to ask everyone in future to not forward these emails on
regardless of how shocking or believable their content is. Once again
as Errol said, the media will have hold of it instantly as it is in the
public interest for a media release to be made by the Govt.

Rules of Thumb:

*People don't survive having their kidneys taken out and being placed in
bathtubs of ice water
*African trans sexual prostitutes rarely gang rape their customers and
write 'welcome to the AIDS club' on the bathroom mirror
*Australian women don't get drunk in Bali and wake up naked working in
Indonesian brothels against their will
*Afghani terrorists never warn their prey
*Datsun drivers are better at sex than Toyota drivers
*You can't touch your nose with your elbow

Once again sorry for taking room up on the list with this stuff (except
the nose/elbow thing which is irrelevant to the argument but frustrating
when drunk) however the less we see of these emails the better.

Regards
Brad

Did you ever read that one that was circulating before xmass about the
lady who found a wallet with a large amount of money in it at a
westfield shoping centre. She tracked down the owner of the wallet who
offered her a reward which she wouldnt except. He then said i'll give
some advise that is better than any reward, dont shop at westfield
shoping centres between now and xmass. He was an afghani. This freaked her
out and she went to the cops who later told her that there was knowone
living at the address she gave them. This freaked her out even more.
