rewind, rewind, rewind, my mistake again........ the volume of the OLD piston dish was 18 cc (machined) the NEW piston has 13 cc. with the old piston in block total volume , with piston at tdc, and fluid level with top of block was 35 cc.
what I done wrong was to add the difference 5cc, which made it 40 cc, instead of TAKING it away, which would make it 30 cc. i worked it out again and get 7.44 : 1 comp. i also have a 2mm thick ( 80 thou) copper head gasket. anybody wanna double check? mark k ----- Original Message ----- From: "andrew smith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, June 28, 2002 8:31 AM Subject: Re: Tuning Cars (off topic) > Mark, > With those figures it does work out at 6.7:1.But i dont know how you get 40cc > for a deck down measurement. If your using z24 crank,L20 rods and Z20e pistons > then they should sit no further down than 1.5mm from the deck in an untouched > L20 block.I thought those pistons were around 13cc's and 1.5mm below should give > a further 8.7cc Which would give around 8:1,maybe a little less if the dish is > larger that 13cc. > > mark krawczuk wrote: > > > my bore is 86 mm, the gasket hole is a little bigger , so i reckon that it > > would be a hole of about 87mm. > > my head cc is 45 > > bore 86 > > stroke 96 > > 2mm head gasket approx 11.76 cc > > > > the volume with dished pistons that havent been machined , and the > > piston at tdc is 40 cc.
