I think one of the classic firsts I heard of was the big mac name here in
Australia.  As far as I understand, a bloke decided after hearing mcdonalds
was coming to australia, to patent the name Big MAC.  Mcdonalds pay him a
small amount per burger as a result (maybe .1 cents per burger sold or
something)but he is rather wealthy as a result.  No taking him to court or
shit.  I though it was rather smart of him.

I belive if Mr Nissan got it first ,its his..
Nissan Motor Corp missed the boat.
the internet is not new its over 20 years old.

I did come across this about 6 months ago but it seams to be growing,I'm
on Mr Nissan's side.
