James, They're probably only different brands - Ex-factory L16/L18 typically had Hitachi or Aussie production had Lucas, late Aussie 180B has mainly Bosch as does most L20B models. All of them fit, Hitachi is best, Bosch is average and Lucas is not worth mentioning. If you want a good starter for a L series try to find a reduction type of L24E, 280ZX or FJ20, NAPS(Z) starters unfortunately are no good on a L as they fowl the block.
