The goose probably thought you were running LRP and saw the black in the
exhaust!
Whenever my mates and I get anything done on our cars we always watch it
being done. I know its annoying but you have to do it when it's your pride
and joy.

even bother trying to start it, but the guys im taking it too, i have been
talking to for a while and seem pretty decent, not gunna rip me off, the guy
is actualy quite excited about doing it (i guess they dont get a lot of
performance stuff here in hobart)
and said it should only take a day to do and i will get change outta
$400....id never let a mechanic i dont know personally touch it...there are
some dickheads out there, that think just beause they built a holden red 202

Subject: Bad news I'm afraid!
I put the wagon in to get a 3" exhaust system fitted. I wish that's all
they did! They quoted me $300 and told me it would be done thursday if I
dropped it in early. I rang thursday arvo and they hadn't even touched it.
I turned up this morning to see what they'd done. I found my car outside
they're shop, unlocked, windows open with the keys in the ignition. I
walked in and gave him serve telling him about how much money was in that
car (MT8, handset, sterio, sub box etc...) and could he please lock it when
he wasn't working on it. He said, "No-one can take it, the battery is
dead." The battery is nearly new. I'm guessing they turned the sterio on
all day thursday and maybe thursday night to keep themselves amused. And
I'm betting they took it for a drive and flogged the crap out of it.
When I went to pick it up this afternoon some local mechanic (worked next
door to the exhaust shop) was playing with the handset telling me it was
running rich. I replied, "No. That's just the cold start enrichment, when
it gets up to operating temp it's spot on." He went on to tell me how he
used to have a microtech computer but denied changing anything.
So after taking two days instead of one they tried to charge me $600 for the
job.
When I drove it home I gave it a bit of accelerator. Whenever it comes onto
boost it pings. My engine has 7:1 compression, is running 6 psi and has big
injectors in it. There is no way it should be pinging. And it sure as hell
wasn't pinging when I dropped it off.
I'm guessing, but I'm thinking that the mechanic decided my car was running
rich and leaned it off. Thanks for ruining $300 of dyno tuning.
Sorry to get on the list and bitch but you really can't trust anyone that
touches your car. I'm stuck now because I can't afford to have the car
re-dyno'd. It's going to sit in my shed until I can work out how to richen
it up.
Anyone got a microtech computer?
What A/F ratio is best?
Can I tune it myself?
Thanks guys and gals.
Andy. :(
