James,
Yes, I mean block the air intakes by shoving your hand over the top of the
carbie (with the air cleaner removed of course and no smoking). This will
create a lot of pressure through the carbie and it usually will shift
stubborn bits of gunk in the air bleeds. It's the time saving way of a full
tear down and clean out with carbie clean and compressed air etc.

With a L16 from a 1600 - 210/A87 head (Stanza L16/W53 head will run on
unleaded) you are pretty much stuck with LRP unless you want the hassle of
running an additive and I have no idea how good the lead replacement
additives are so I can't recommend them or otherwise. Others on the list may
have used these and can comment on the pros & cons. The other way and it's
not all that practical on an old L16 head is to have the valve seats
replaced - in most cases hardly worth it in opinion unless there's some sort
of nostalgia involved.

regards
Terry
