James, Yes, I mean block the air intakes by shoving your hand over the top of the carbie (with the air cleaner removed of course and no smoking). This will create a lot of pressure through the carbie and it usually will shift stubborn bits of gunk in the air bleeds. It's the time saving way of a full tear down and clean out with carbie clean and compressed air etc.
With a L16 from a 1600 - 210/A87 head (Stanza L16/W53 head will run on unleaded) you are pretty much stuck with LRP unless you want the hassle of running an additive and I have no idea how good the lead replacement additives are so I can't recommend them or otherwise. Others on the list may have used these and can comment on the pros & cons. The other way and it's not all that practical on an old L16 head is to have the valve seats replaced - in most cases hardly worth it in opinion unless there's some sort of nostalgia involved. regards Terry -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of james wade Sent: Saturday, 13 July 2002 9:50 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: water probs i take it you mean cover up the air intakes and then rev hard? im running a l16 (1970) so im stuck with LRP... -james -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Terry Rudd Sent: Saturday, 13 July 2002 1:38 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: water probs --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
