Tony, Most L18 A87 (41cc) heads that you find in Aus were manufactured after 1974 or whenever the Japanese went to ULP petrol. There are however some A87 heads with brass or some sort of composite valve seats getting around here that don't survive real long with PULP fuel - all 1600/L16 A87 heads that I've seen are like this so that's why I'm reluctant to advise ppl with the A87 head to go ahead and use PULP unless you know for sure that it's got suitable valve seats. If you run PULP with seats that aren't designed for it then the destruction of the valve seats is pretty quick and severe.

I've put almost 90000km on my 180B A87 since we got our lead taken from us - since which time it's been run exclusively on 96 unleaded. I've just had the head off for a cam and gasket job, and there's no noticible valve seat damage, nor did I experience any significant changes in valve clearances. On the basis of my (and others) experience, I'd say just stick unleaded* in it and forget about it. *or more precisely the cheapest fuel of adequate octane you can find. --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
