G'day All, Just thought i'd share my latest stupid adventure. Yours truly brought a niceish 240Z a while ago and after changing the head gasket got it all going and registered great. It is blowing some smoke, occasionally black occasionally blue. Ok fine.. so its running rich and its tired.. expected. I have been the most busy in my entire life with working 12 hrs a day 7 days a week on a defence contract for my uni and simultaneously trying to finish my honours, oh and set up a PhD scholarship and see my girlfriend somewhere in there so as you can imagine, tuning my carbs was way down on my list. Yesterday something went funny after a highway trip and the engine didn't like running at just open throttle, WOT was fine, idle was ROUGH as guts but it would churp and burp at just open throttle. More indication that its running too rich, fine. Driving home from my girlfriends this morning it was particularly bad, gave a big churp.... KA-BANG. Muchus backfire and explosion from the arse end.. MUCH black smoke in the rear view.. and it now sounds like a truck.
Verdict: Got home and had a look.. its got an oval muffler mounted up and down and at the back and bottom of this muffler there is now a big gaping hole where the extra fuel that wasn't getting burnt has collected and exploded. Hehe.. love it. :) Bit higher on my priorities list now.
