Chris,

The light/wiper knobs on the late dash 1600 can be a bit tricky to remove
after 30 years+ of being pulled & pushed a few thousand or more times - the
spring loaded keyway in the knob wears a bit so the knob wont remove in the
"in" position. I've found the easy way to remove them is to pull the knob
out far enough so that you can secure the shaft with a pair of pliers and
then push the knob in slightly against the spring, but don't let the shaft
go back in or twist, and turn the knob counter-clockwise about 90 degrees.
You will feel it release and them you can pull it straight out.

The same method is good to re-install them but you turn the knob clockwise.

regards
Terry

Subject: Help! Dash removal on 1600

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to remove the headlight and wiper
knobs, so I can remove the dash facia on a 1600 sedan...

Thanks

Chris Dorgan
